Dj Jabu

Janis, known as DJ JABU, grew up in Los Angeles in a family of music lovers. At age 11, she discovered the upright bass and was immediately captivated. After studying jazz and classical music in high school, she graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a Bachelor's degree in classical music performance.

Janis was introduced to the clubbing scene in Montreal, where she began exploring electronic music as DJ JABU. Since moving to Dubai five years ago, DJ JABU has played at high-profile events across the UAE and held residencies at several award-winning venues. She has also made guest DJ appearances in Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain.

While she started her career focusing on house music, DJ JABU is known for her ability to mix a wide variety of genres, including chillout, commercial dance, disco, funk, reggae, hip-hop, Latino, Arabic, rock, and old-school classics. In addition to being one of the most versatile open-format DJs in Dubai, Janis is also the principal bassist of the Abu Dhabi National Symphony Orchestra, the UAE Philharmonic, and the Dubai Chamber Orchestra.
